Nine security updates coming from Microsoft in August

Microsoft Patch Tuesday is coming in a few day’s time, and it promises to be another busy time for system administrators of clients based on the Microsoft platforms.

A total of nine set of security patches will be made available this time around, including six critical updates. Other than three critical fixes for Windows-related issues, there is one that is specific to Windows Vista. Fixes for Office, Internet Explorer, and Visual Basic development software are also included in the critical round-up.

Additionally, Microsoft has released information that less serious updates are also being readied:

  • Four non-security, high-priority updates on Microsoft Update (MU) and Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)
  • Two non-security, high-priority updates for Windows on Windows Update (WU) and Software Update Services (SUS)

Note that the above information does not include non-security updates released on other days.
